Cyberbiosecurity aims to protect life, medical, health, agricultural and food sciences from a cybersecurity aspect by managing risks emanating from the increased adoption of digital technologies in these fields. Cyberbiosecurity is not a new expression, however it still has limited coverage of the vulnerabilities and risks arising at the intersection of the cybersecurity and biosecurity fields due to lack of research and understanding.

Additionally, in an agriculture setting, compared to food safety monitoring, the cyberattacks are underreported as a result of the lack of detection capabilities used in this industry and how cybercriminals, such as ransomware groups operate.
